Nepali designer Prabal Gurung who studied fashion design at NIFT New Delhi before starting his own label in the US about three years ago, has soared to great heights. Prabal has dressed up the crème de la crème of Hollywood, including actors Anne Hathaway, Sarah Jessica Parker, Demi Moore, and Zoe Saldana. More recently, it was the Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine who sported his creation on her nine-day tour of South-East Asia.

Despite his achievements, Prabal has retained his connection to India where he apprenticed under designer Manish Arora.
The designer is keeping abreast of Bollywood and he recently tweeted, “It’s all about Radha on the dance floor, a def cure for Sunday blues. xoPG,” referring to the track from the upcoming Karan Johar film that stars newcomers Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra. A few days later, the designer again took to the microblogging site and posted, “SO XCTD!! 2night’s all about Bollywood Dance Party in NY. Practicing my rusty thumkas n B’wood moves. Move over Radha here I come @SOTY_FC xoPG”.

Obviously, the haute designer has a heart that beats to desi tunes. Prabal also has been feasting on Indian films and tweeted a few days back, “English Vinglish, is a subtle yet immensely powerful film that touches the core of your heart & soul. @SrideviBKapoor is beyond brilliant.” With the film having received positive reviews both in India and abroad, it’s no wonder that the designer is also a fan.
