Learn to achieve the much-coveted natural look from the best. Eliano Bou Assi, Manager, Artistry & Education, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Europe, Middle East, Africa & India tells us how

Beauty is all about healthy, glowing skin, so cleanse your skin before you begin.

1. Smooth on Moisturiser and eye cream, to hydrate your skin. This also ensures concealer and foundation glide on smoothly.

2. Apply Corrector-Concealer With a concealer brush, dab corrector on the under-eye area starting from the innermost corner of the eye. Gently blend in with your fingers. This will neutralise under-eye discolouration. Layer concealer over the corrector. Tips: Use a peachy, yellow-toned corrector to neutralise dark circles. Concealer should be one or two shades lighter than your foundation to brighten up the under-eye area.

3. Foundation Test a few shades of yellow-toned foundation on the side of your face; the shade that disappears into your skin is the one for you. Double-check this shade on your forehead, which sometimes has darker skin. With your fingers or a make-up sponge, spot-apply foundation where skin needs to be evened out—around the nose and mouth where there is often redness. For all-over coverage, use a foundation brush to apply foundation and blend in.

4. Powder For crease-free, long wear, apply loose powder over concealer using an eye-blender brush or a mini powder-puff. Powder the rest of your face using a powder puff or brush.

5. Bronzer and Blush When applied correctly, bronzer will give you a natural looking healthy glow. For a sun-kissed face, pair bronzer with a light pink or rosy stain on your cheeks. With the bronzer brush, dust bronzing powder over your cheeks, forehead, nose, chin and neck (areas where the light hits). Smile and dust a neutral shade of blush on the apples of cheeks with the blush brush. Blend up, towards the hairline, then downwards to soften colour. Layer a little bright blush (just on the apples of cheeks) over the neutral shade, for a longer lasting look.

6. Lipstick and Liner Find a lipstick that looks good when you’re barefaced. The most flattering lipstick will look like your natural lip colour taken up a notch. For definition, use a lip liner after applying lip colour. Use a lip brush to soften and blend hard edges.

7. Brows With an eye-brow brush and eye-definer brush, define brows with an eye shadow that matches your hair colour.

8. Eyeshadow Sweep light-hued eye-shadow from lashline to browbone. Dust medium-hued eye-shadow on the lower lid, up to the crease.

9. Eye Liner Line the upper lash line with the ultra fine eyeliner brush. If you are lining the lower lash line, make sure top and bottom lines meet at the outer corner of the eye. For a thin line, apply liner using the tip of the brush. For a thick line, paint liner across the lashline using the flat side of the brush.

10. Mascara Apply 2-3 coats of mascara, brushing from the base of the lashes to the tips. Roll the wand as you go, to separate the lashes and avoid clumps.

You can customise these 10 steps to suit your schedule and style. Stop at any step, if you feel satisfied with the look achieved, or continue to build as desired.
