Skipping the concept of Bollywood glamour on the ramp, designer Nikhil Thampi let his clothes do all the talking during his show on the opening day of the Lakme India Fashion Week.
The line, titled Alchemy, was an amalgamation of modern and mythical India, which the designer says typically defines a new age bride, who wants the best of both the worlds.
"My new collection is called Alchemy, the inspiration comes from an amalgamation of modern and mythical India. The concept typically defines a new age bride. It's about the girl who is ready to break the norms with her edgy yet minimalistic style," Nikhil said.

When asked about no celebrity guest on the ramp during his show, Nikhil said he always prefers to keep the focus on his clothes when it comes to fashion weeks. "It's always been my philosophy to concentrate on my clothes during fashion weeks. Hence, this time around too, my hero was my collection," said the designer, whose celebrity clientele includes names like Kajol, Madhuri Dixit, Anushka Sharma and Sonam Kapoor.
His collection had the bridal shades mixed with neutral. The collection also saw a simple touch of embellishments.

"Bollywood presence on the ramp helps the audience satisfy their aspiration for them to be a part of their life. Having said that, it also depends on the designer and their inspiration for the season" he said.
