Coming together for a cause, designers Shaina NC and Vikram Phadnis showcased their designs at a joint fashion show in Nairobi on Sunday.

The charity event that was organised by Giants International featured traditional Indian wear with Shaina opening the show and the latter closing it, with proceeds going towards the cause of health and sanitation for the girl.

Talking about the initiative, Vikram said, “The schools in Nairobi have seen a drop in the percentage of girls attending. The idea was to raise funds to sponsor the sanitary needs, mainly the distribution of sanitary pads for the young girls who can’t afford it.”

The show was rather unique as it had both Indian and African girls walking the ramp. Shaina adds, “I feel glamour should have a meaning. In order to make a change in society, we need to give back. I’m glad India could make a difference, the response was great with much appreciation for the Indian designs.”
