Mumbai is gearing for a brand new culture festival starting from next month. Stage42 will showcase some of India and the world's most celebrated artists and experiences in comedy, music, and theatre. The festival will take place in seven cities - Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune - between February and March. Only Much Louder, which also owns music property like NH7 Weekender, has put together a handpicked selection of artistes and experiences through the course of the festival.

Laugh out loud
Over 150 shows across a variety of genres, many of which are already on sale on Insider.in, comprise this new festival. In comedy, these include the Russell Peters Almost Famous World Tour, a tour by critically-acclaimed comic Bill Burr, a nationwide tour by the always edgy, All India Bakchod (AIB), and Pretentious Nights featuring the guys behind the popular YouTube series Pretentious Movie Reviews. Keeping in mind the huge fan following, Peters' additional show has been added to his Mumbai's tour.

Musical outings
Being an OML peoperty, expect it to be a musical show. While Ankur & The Ghalat Family will bring out some Hindi lyrics to the fest, Bhayanak Maut will add a groove metal touch. While one can indulge in Indian fusion band from Bangalore, Lagori, you can also soar high with Hindi/Urdu rock project of Khalid Ahmed and Kashif Iqbal, Parvaaz. Among others Nicholson, Nischay Parekh, Nucleya a.k.a. Udyan Sagar and Pinknoise will perform at the fest. "Expect to discover a lot of new artists, experiences and even cuisines when the fest hits your city, alongside some really great performances by some of the biggest names in the business," says OML CEO Vijay Nair.

Play it out
The fest will also see some spectacular theatre shows including Mahmood Farooqui and Danish Husain's Dastangoi. Musician Vidya Shah and Husain's presentation to celebrate and commemorate Begum Akhtar centenary year in Akhtari will be a major attraction. Apart from this poetic performances, the fest will also see two plays. Akarsh Khurana's The Interview and Rajat Kapoor's Hamlet where Shakespeare's classic is revisited by a gang of oddball clowns who really believe revenge is a dish best served with big feet.

Club nights
The fest will also host multiple club nights in each city and these will include performances by bass monster Nucleya, indie folk band Swarathma & Friends, comedy rock band Vir Das' Alien Chutney, stand-up comedian Biswa Kalyan Rath of Pretentious Movie Reviews, comedy collectives The Improvisers & SNG Improv, India's first reggae sound system, Reggae Rajahs, and many more.

"We've handpicked each of the shows that are part of the festival, and there are over 150 of them across music, comedy, theatre and more. We're literally bringing all this live entertainment to people at venues that are spread out all over their cities, making it pretty easy to step out and catch a show. Perhaps discover your new favourite band or your new favourite comic," says Arjun S Ravi, creative director of Only Much Louder. From huge stand-up comedy acts, to exciting musical sets in clubs, to theatre performances, the festival will allow fans to step out of their homes and have a great time.

(Stage42 will be held in Mumbai from February 9 to March 27)
