T2 Terminal

The T2 Terminal represents good and spacious architecture. It is well-lit, executed neatly with great detailing and is landscaped aesthetically. It is not a conventional airport building.

House designed by Nari Gandhi at Errangal 

This is one of the best structures that is hardly seen by the public being a private property. The house is a classic example of organic architecture responding to site, meticulously crafted in the unique style of Nari.

Maneckji Cooper School’s old building adjoining the road

The Juhu Tara Road designed by Bruce Goff and Patel Batliwala is a good example of modern heritage and architecture that responds to the site close to sea, with proper overhangs, random rubble walls and structures with a low height. Such kind of responsive architecture is rare to spot nowadays.

National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA)

Designed by Philip Johnson with acoustics design by Cyril Harris, this complex has excellent spaces, perfect acoustics, charming interiors and it responds flawlessly to the context.

The Kanchanjunga Apartments

Designed by Charles Correa, this structure stands out majestically in the match-box skyline of Mumbai. It is planned well and is graceful as a contemporary architectural landmark of the city.

Jehangir Art Gallery

This is also a good example of everlasting modern heritage. It sits gracefully in a historic area, with a low profile responding to the site’s geography, using material that resonates with the past but in a contemporary manner. It has excellent inner spaces and is a good example of urban design too.  

Alpaiwalla Museum Building, Khareghat Colony

Located at the extreme end, this structure by Jal Gobhai was built on a modest scale but is a bold, well-balanced and composed building.

The LIC head office at Nariman Point, near Mantralaya: This is a good example of modern architecture in India. It continues to stand majestically due to the use of basalt stone on its ground floor to connect to the architectural language of the past. It has RCC fins or brise-soleil to address climatic conditions and its shape responds to the site’s geography, which is a curve.
