More than a just a girl thing

She a singer-song writer-musician and now tours with her own band, but we always felt that Geetu Hinduja had a rockstar vibe even in her more conventional avatar as one of Mumbai’s most well known gallerists. Clearly, the wide sweep of her creativity and go-get-it attitude has inspired more of the same in her daughters while we know the younger one Avani Raheja, who forayed into the food business after a stint in hospitality management at her father’s resort, has hit a sweet spot with her luxury chocolate store, apparently Geetu’s eldest daughter Neha Raheja is an promising filmmaker who has been getting rave reviews at international film fests. The latest is that her third daughter Veda Raheja is all set to launch her eponymous fashion label in Mumbai.

The young lady is a trained designer who after a stint with an international fashion magazine went on to intern with Delhi-based designer duo Shivan and Narresh and also Payal Khandwala.

There’s been much good-natured ribbing in the family especially from her mom Geetu about how her endless childhood doodles have finally “grown up into designs”, the matriarch who helped it happen is now already on Gen Next her six-year-old grandson from Neha. We hear the “friends” are now planning to fly off for an international vacation together just the two of them. Much of the strong bonding owes itself to the baby-sitting Geetu volunteered for whenever Neha was travelling to showcase her films, but we’re quite bowled over by the plucky little man who’s ever ready to pack his bags when his rockstar granny makes holiday plans. How cute is that?
