Life springs many surprises. Seven-year-old Sparsh, who suffers from a hearing disability, had the time of his life when he got to play cricket with none other than former Australian cricketer, Brett Lee. A bat, signed for Sparsh by the legendary player himself, turned to be the icing on the cake. Lee, who has been traveling in India to promote hearing screen for newborn babies, reached the Pink City on Thursday morning for the same and will be heading to a few hospitals today to meet children, who have undergone hearing implants. In an exclusive interview with AFTERhrs, the pacer spoke about working in films, singing for daughter Helena, visiting the Pink City, and more.

‘MY DAUGHTER LOVES MUSIC’

While he has appeared in a couple of Bollywood flicks, not many know that Lee is a musician too. “I started playing the guitar when I was around 22 and that was because my brother used to play the guitar and the piano. So I decided to learn it as well,” revealed Lee, who is also the part of a rock band, Six & Out. “My daughter loves music and she enjoys when I play the guitar or sing for her,” added Lee, who has sung the track, You are the Only One For Me.

TOO BUSY FOR BOLLYWOOD

The former cricketer has appeared in only two films " Victory and UnIndian. Quizzed about his plans for acting, he replied, “I might do a film in the future, but currently I am really busy with other things. I am doing full time commentary and then there was IPL. And now, I am traveling for this cause. I am really enjoying this though because it is really close to my heart.”

COULDN’T EXPLORE THE PINK CITY

While the international cricketer has been to the city many times, he hasn’t really got a chance to explore the place as he was always grounded at the hotel. “I have had Rajasthani food many times, but I am not sure if I’d be able to have it during this trip. I like the culture of Rajasthan; the people are really nice here, the monuments are beautiful. Also, you have great marbles here and big marble places (laughs),” he shared.

‘EVERY PART OF MY LIFE IS FUN!’

From playing cricket to playing guitar and acting in films; Lee has accomplished it all. “I believe every part of my life is fun! I enjoy doing films, I enjoy playing the guitar, or singing, I enjoy playing cricket and I am also enjoying working with Cochlear for this cause. However, being here and promoting this is more fun for me because I get to change the lives of people. With cricket, you can only entertain them for six hours but cannot change their lives,” opined Lee. “I think it’s really important to have universal hearing screening for newborn babies in India. Hearing disability can be treated perfectly with a surgery and I am saying this from my experience,” he added. Lee’s son suffered temporary hearing loss, after which he underwent a surgery.
