Time spent: Three to four hours after college. Almost the entire day during vacations, because I’m bored at home. But when I’m out, I don’t use my phone.
Addicted to: Instagram, Snapchat, WhatsApp. I check Facebook only when someone tags me in a post.
Uses social media to: Check out memes.
A day without social media: Would take me outdoors almost all day — jogging, to the gym, to play football or meet friends, go out with family. I’d come home to eat and sleep.
Social media is full of a lot of drama, and if I didn’t have it for a day, I’d have more time, which I spend browsing through posts on social media
Time spent: Four to five hours. I am constantly on it, whenever I’m free.
Addicted to: Instagram the most, Snapchat, Facebook.
Uses social media to: Go through pages that I follow and to post once in a while.
A day without social media: Means I would go out and socialise with friends in person, instead of socialising on social media and texting them.
Time spent: Approximately eight and half hours on a normal day. During vacations, I’m constantly using it because I have nothing to do. But it usually varies depending on how tired I am.
Addicted to: WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, 9gag.
Uses social media to: Check others’ posts, chat and post photos on Instagram.
A day without social media: Would be spent reading books, going out for walks, watching TV, perhaps talking to people on the phone as opposed to typing messages to them.
Time spent: Around nine hours a day. I’ve always got my phone with me.
Addicted to: Facebook and Instagram are the most used. WhatsApp, Pinterest, YouTube. Deactivated Snapchat six months ago, as I was spending too much time on it.
Uses social media to: Scroll through feeds, mainly on Instagram and Facebook. You find one thing interesting and then you’ve gone through a bulk of content before you know it. After going through everything, sometimes, at a subconscious level, I feel obligated to post something, and since I’m interested in photography, I like sharing my work.
A day without social media: Would leave me feeling pretty helpless. I’ve become dependent on social media for basic information such as class schedules. But I might use that time to focus on my photography and music (I sing, and play the guitar and the ukulele).
