#1  While the cricket crazy head to Adelaide Oval for the India-Pakistan match, you can explore the beautiful Riverbank Precinct with its lovely parks, walking paths and cycling trails (bikes can be borrowed for free in the city).

#2 The city centre and its China Town have over 20 outlets serving some of the most exotic cuisine from South East Asia: Vietnamese, Laotian and Cambodian. You'll get every delicacy you crave for and more, including a vegetarian burger at Jai Gujarat!

#3 At Cleland Wildlife Park hold a koala, hand-feed kangaroos or pelicans and watch the ducks follow you around.

#4 Wine tours at the Barossa Valley (which also comprises Eden Valley) will leave you heady with information about why Australian wine ranks so high. Barossa is one of the only areas in Australia to have both warm and cool climate regions for grape growing. Some 750 grape-growing families, many sixth generation, supply quality grapes to more than 170 wine companies of all sizes. Barossa Shiraz and Eden Valley Riesling have led the way as regional heroes, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Mataro, Grenache, Viognier, Semillon and Tawny also contributing to its standing among the world's great wine regions. With such diverse growing conditions and soil types across both, valleys and vineyards tended by hand for generations, you're bound to find a wine to call your own. I commend Seppeltsfield and Jacob's Creek.

#5 Adelaide is a great place to discover on foot. Heritage trails and walks will lead you to some magnificent churches and old buildings like the museum. Too tired to walk? Just jump on to the tram in the city centre precinct for free.
