If you have been movingto the Mundiyan song from Baaghi 2, then you have Navraj Hans to thank. The revamped version of the original song by Labh Janjua has a peppy beat and the singer is happy with the positive response to it. Navraj has a couple of Hindi tracks coming up but before that, he chatted with us about the current chartbuster...

This year, you have lent your voice to two remakes — Chote Chote Peg from Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (SKTKS) and Mundiyan from Baaghi 2. In fact, the song from SKTKS was originally rendered by your father. How challenging is to sing remakes?

It’s very difficult because these songs have a cult status and the challenging part is that you need to sing it in a way that it sounds fresh while retaining its original essence. So when the song was given to me, I took it up as a challenge and did my best. I was fortunate that my father’s old classic came to me since I have grown up listening to it and in fact, it is one of my all-time-favourites.

What are the kind of songs that you would like to explore in Bollywood?

There are lot more tracks coming up but personally, I would love to attempt Sufi songs as that is one genre I would love to experiment with. People have heard my Hindi and Punjabi songs but what people do not know is that I can sing Sufi tracks as well.

Are you keen on releasing singles or albums? Are you working on any at the moment?

Six of my singles are ready for release. Hopefully, I will start releasing them in the next few months. If all goes well, my first single Sahara will be out in the coming week.
