Mumbai has seen its share of concept bars, from a take on speakeasy bars to most recently a version of the honesty bar. The latest entrant to the bar concept circuit is Hyde that’s located on the ground floor of Currimjee building in Fort. Clearly, aimed at the office going crowd in town, this bar has got one thing right — an unattended bar, which happens to be a take on the honesty bar concept and is a conversation starter.

CONDITIONS APPLY...

The Honesty bar concept dates back to the colonial era and is a popular choice to hangout in South Africa. The idea is to leave an unattended bar for patrons to sample a tipple of their choice from a fine selection of spirits, leaving it up to the customer to be honest about their consumption and to pay the amount due. Hyde’s take on this concept, gives patrons a chance to sample three different kinds of spirits that changes weekly or on a fortnightly basis. Giving you a chance to make and try a new alcohol, but you are allowed only two pegs at a time. Once done, report your consumption and pay the tab, referring to a list of suggestive prices. The honesty bar enclosure runs from 6 pm to 8 pm daily. For those thinking of bailing after downing their choice of alcohol, well that’s not going to happen, as the honesty bar has been placed strategically next to the bartender, who can clearly keep an eye on overtly eager patrons.

At: Hyde, Currimjee Building, 111, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Kala Ghoda, Fort
