Think nude body-con dresses and matching beige heels or clear transparent pumps and Kim Kardashian West comes to mind instantly. The reality TV star has given us some of her coolest street looks in beige sweater dresses either worn with snakeskin stiletto boots or teamed with a long coat in the same tone. Flashing her enviable curves in nude strapless numbers with sheer detailing has been her favourite thing to do while stepping out with husband Kanye West. And looks like, her influence has trickled into Bollywood, too.

Last fortnight saw Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty going all matchy-matchy from head-to-toe in classic camel tones. DP returned from Cannes in a traffic-stopping jewel-toned trench teamed over a caramel dress and matching shoes. Miss Penty, on the other hand, paired her knotted khaki shirt with cropped pants and strappy heels. But is it a good idea to wear skin hues from head-to-toe?

Designer Varun Bahl sees nude as a warm and natural colour. “It is the colour of beaches and outdoors that beautifully blends with all natural complexion and makes you glow. From deep camel to a light hint of beige, the nude can be worn in a wide spectrum of tones. It’s versatile and timeless like no other shade,” says Varun.

He suggests some cool ways to rock it. “Beige and nude look amazing with denim staples, a must-do for every high-street fan,” he adds.

NUDE IS SEXY

The monochrome trend has been having a moment for quite some time now and shows no signs of dying out. Designer Nandita Mahtani’s entire wardrobe is either black, white or shades of nude. “I love monochrome looks and I think an entire skin colour one really brings out one’s features and is immensely sexy. Every collection under my signature label always has a skin colour capsule where we experiment with different shades of nude and self-embroidery — always a best seller,” says Nandita.

However, she suggests keeping it chic and classy, from the hair and make-up to the shoes. “Straight hair, dusky eyes with a nude lipstick and really high nude stilettos (all matching to the outfit), defines sexy. Personally, I love the idea of ‘glass’ with nude as well. A pair of glass hoops or block heels is a super cool way to bring out the nude colour,” she adds.

CREATES AN ILLUSION OF HEIGHT

Tone on tone layering is the easiest way to create an illusion of height and it has emerged as the safest ensemble for any event. Designer Aniket Satam says, “While layering,  make sure you experiment with various tactile and textural details like clashing matt with shine.”
