Hoodie gets haute

Could you picture Audrey Hepburn in a hoodie? Well, the label’s designer Clare Waight Keller gave an au courant twist to the classic LBD of the late actress from her seminal film, Breakfast At Tiffany’s.

In an emotional tribute to the house’s founder Hubert de Givenchy who passed away early this year, Audrey’s black dress came with a hoodie accent. Guess the hoodie memo also reached Schiaparelli, Alexis Mabille and Sonia Rykiel. Sonia Rykiel closed the label’s defining 50 years with a showstopper bride sporting a corset top teamed with a pair of denims and the ensemble was completed with feather accented hoodie addition. While hoodies aren’t new in the ready-to-wear space for the last seven to eight years, it’s interesting how the hallowed ateliers have incorporated them in their vocabulary.
