Eating healthy is a commitment that you make every day, and while it’s best to prepare your own meals so that you know what goes into them, that’s not always practically possible. That’s where some new entrants into the healthy food business can help. Here’s a lowdown of where you can get your next healthy bite.

A Mexican platter with a desi touch

Andheri-based, Aharveda, is known for its healthy thalis. They have recently introduced an a la carte menu with a Mexican platter. You can enjoy tacos made with rajgira, served with salsa and guacamole. Wash that down with a buttermilk made with coconut milk or a chilled glass of raw mango juice. And if you still have an appetite for more there’s always a super healthy thali that has less oil, no gluten and sugar and also happens to be vegan.

Try whey protein snacks

Founder and CEO, Ankita Chawla’s, Eat-A-Whey is a venture that came about because of her constant struggle to lose weight. Her personal success with whey encouraged her to model a business venture that taps into whey protein’s body repairing power. She says, “In India, parents don’t give their children whey protein because they think it’s only for adults, when the truth is that these chocolate drinks that promote growth in height and children (read Horlicks, Milo, etc) all contain whey protein powder. Having said that, we also have products that are child friendly like a grain and gluten-free banana bread sweetened with dates, gluten and grain free chocolate chip cookies — which also come with a dairy free option.” Also, people here have a misconception that whey protein is for gym goers, but the job of protein is to build and repair the body. so, it’s good for everyone to consume! Only those who have a dairy intolerance will not take well to it.
