Having food you eat customised to your taste is always a pleasure. Everyone likes to direct their mother, sister or wife at home to add a dash of a particular ingredient or increase a particular flavour or do away with an ingredient altogether. However, in a hotel one can only give the order and hope the chef gets the taste right.

For a change, the seafood festival at Coffeescape in Ramada Navi Mumbai in Mahape offers more; you can choose your favourite seafood and have it cooked by the chef with ingredients of your choice in front of you! What more for an ultimate eating experience?

“This is the first time we are organising a seafood festival and the aim was to give people a different experience. Not only are the dishes prepared on the spot, but the pricing is on a per gram basis. An individual customer may choose a small fish whereas a group of people may opt for more variety and quantity. So, the prices will suit each one’s needs,” says food and beverage manager, Vishwas Sarpotdar, adding that it is for both lunch and dinner. The food fest is on till February 2.

He added that additional seafood items can be included to the regular buffet menu. Indian, Chinese, Thai and Western cuisines are on offer. Mandarin sauce, soya basil sauce, red and green curry, lemon grass and sweet chilli, lemon butter sauce, Anchovy sauce, mushroom valoute, tomato and red pepper sauce, among others are the different types of sauces and flavours available.

With guests dropping in from Airoli and Koparkhairane also, the reception has been good so far.

“Tawa fry surmai, butter chilly crabs, calamari (squid) rings, Malwani fish curry are some of the guests’ hot picks,” adds Sarpotdar.

For the chefs also, it is a first-time experience and a good one at that. “It is much better when you can specifically prepare according to their tastes. The positive response we are getting is worth the effort,” says Vijay Mishra, executive chef.
