With December upon us already, there’s no better time to experiment with metallic make-up. A dash of gold is a quick and easy way to add a glamorous touch and women sure know it. In fact, Pinterest has seen searches for this coloured liner up by 722 per cent this year, making them name it the number one holiday beauty trend of the year. Whether going for a soft luminous glow of gold, getting party ready with glitter or going bold with dramatic gold wings — there’s something for everyone.

PAIR WITH A DEEP LIP COLOUR

Make your eyes pop this party season with on fleek golden eyeliner. It lends a rich and warm feel to the eyes, feels Renuka Pillai, celebrity make-up expert, AVON India. “The best way to incorporate gold eyeliner is to rim your lash lines with the metallic shade, alongside deep black liner applied to the top and bottom waterlines. To complete the look, pair it with a darker lip colour. A deep maroon or a red hot lipstick will work wonders for your look, while you keep the remaining make up subtle,” she says.

WORKS FOR DAY AND NIGHT

Gold glitter eyeliner on the lids serves as the star of your look. Indian women are all about the drama that comes with gorgeous make-up and this holiday season it’s a must try. Mohandas Meitei, salon art director, Akreations Hair & Beyond adds, “Putting a gold liner on just your upper lash line in the morning hours creates a pretty glint that reflects the sun and brightens your eyes. The same liner when applied beneath the lower lashes, makes the look dramatic. It serves as both your day and night look.”

A VERSATILE COLOUR

Berzin Irani, make-up artist, Beyu India, says gold liners can be used with winged eyeliner. They can be used very close to dark shades of liners like black, blue, green, brown, etc. “Gold is  versatile and it works for almost all skin tones. Glitter is a hot favourite for the holiday season as it adds that oomph to your look. Proportion is the key, there is a thin line between using it in  a way that’s just enough or it can end up looking a bit over the top. Opt for finely ground glitter particles when it comes to using them for the face or lips,” he suggests.

ACCORDING TO SKIN TONE

Gold liner can stand out when used against a matt brown eyeshadow on the eyelid or one may want to pair it up with classic black smokey eyes to add a touch of bling. Aakriti Kochar, hair and make-up expert, Oriflame India explains, “Those with small eyes, should use glitter eye liner to brighten up the eyes. If you wish to make your eyes appear rounder, apply glitter on the center of eyelid. If you like just a hint of glitter, add to the inner corner of eyes using a thin brush to brighten up your eyes. Different tones of gold work for different skin tones. White gold and Rose gold are ideal for fair Indian skin tones, yellow gold and copper go well with wheatish tones and copper and bronze go well with dusky skin tones.”
