Going the green mile: Fun, easy-to-try green tea recipes

Green tea has found millions of takers worldwide due to its numerous health benefits – what with it being one of the best sources of antioxidants and a viable alternative to caffeinated beverages. This tea, however, can also be experimented with in the form of coolers, popsicles and other fun, easy-to-follow recipes. Mixologist and chef Arina Suchde suggests some atypical green tea concoctions you can try right away:

Green tea berry smoothie
Preparation time: 5-7 minutes
Number of servings: 2
Ingredients:
l 1 cup of Light Green Tea (prepared and cooled)
l ¼ cup low fat yoghurt
l ¼ cup mixed frozen berries (raspberries, blueberries, mulberry, blackberry)
Method:
Blend all ingredients till smooth. Serve in a short glass with a straw and a few chopped berries.

Green tea cider
Number of servings: 2
Ingredients:
l 1 cup water
l 1 cup apple juice
l 1 cinnamon stick
l 2 Star anise
l 2 cloves
l 2 Honey Lemon Green Tea Bags
l 2 lemon slices
Method:
Add water, apple juice, cinnamon stick, star anise and cloves to a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Steep the green tea bags in the mixture for two minutes. Serve warm in tea cups and garnish with lemon slices.

Green tea mojito
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Number of servings: 1
Ingredients:
l ½ teaspoon honey
l ¼ cucumber
(small dice)
l 1 lemon (cut into 4 wedges)
l 4-5 fresh mint leaves
l Crushed ice
l 1 cup Mint Burst Green Tea (prepared and cooled)
l Soda to top
Method:
In a tall glass, add honey, cucumber, lemon and mint. Fill half with crushed ice and pour the cooled green tea over it. Top with chilled soda. Serve with a straw.

Pomegranate mar'tea'ni
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Number of servings: 2
Ingredients:
l 2 tablespoons fresh pomegranate seeds
l 10 ml lemon juice
l 5-6 ginger juliennes
l Ice cubes
l 1 cup Tulsi Natura Green Tea (prepared and cooled)
l 60 ml pomegranate juice
l 1 sprig of tulsi for garnish
Method:
In a cocktail shaker, muddle pomegranate seeds, lemon juice and ginger. Fill the shaker with ice and add the green tea, pomegranate juice and honey. Shake well and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with tulsi leaf.

Green tea and raw mango margarita
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Number of servings: 2
Ingredients:
l 1 large or 2 medium raw mangoes
l 2 cups Lemon Zest Green Tea (prepared and cooled)
l ½ tsp roasted cumin powder
l A few drops of Tabasco
l 1 cup crushed ice
Method:
Boil the raw mango in water till soft (about 10 minutes), then remove skin and keep aside to cool. Once cooled, de-seed and cut the mango into chunks and discard the pit. Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend till smooth. Serve in a margarita glass and garnish with a slice of raw mango on the rim.
