Parades, workshops and treasure hunts... there's a lot to look forward to this St. Paddy's Day
If you're in Dublin, Ireland from the 14th to 17th March, get out your greens and make your way to the St. Patrick's Day celebrations. It's four days of music, cultural treats, sports, dance, comedy and more, ending on St. Patrick's Day (17th March), While the main celebrations take place in Dublin, the festival is celebrated throughout Ireland. St. Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three-leaf plant to explain the Holy Trinity and the colour green has been historically associated with Ireland.
To kick things off this year, is the Festival Treasure Hunt in Dublin. Participants can join the treasure hunt in teams of four, which will last for an hour and 45 minutes; the hunt offers a unique way to discover Dublin, as they answer a series of questions and look for clues. The hunt will start and end at Trinity Exam Hall, College Green, D1 and participants must finish it on foot, weaving their way through historical locations. With the theme being 'Explorers', don't be surprised if you spot Indiana Jones or Christopher Columbus navigating their way around the city. And for your little ones, there's a mini hunt.
On day two, the Festival Big Day Out takes centre stage. Head to Georgian Dublin, where you and your family can enjoy street performances, theatrics, Irish language events, workshops, music, open-air shows and a lot more. Language events and workshops to look forward to include Me Jewel and Darlin’ Dublin, a new exhibition of letterpress prints named after author Éamon Mac Thomáis’ account of Dublin life from 1974; A Visual Tribute to W.B. Yeats, where The Dublin Painting and Sketching Club with The Irish Writers Centre will present an exhibition of paintings inspired by the poetry of W.B Yeats and poetry recitals, short readings on Yeats and musical settings of his poems by harpist Claire Roche will celebrate his work; and Gaelspraoi: Cirque Du Gael, which brings the best of Irish-language entertainment for all ages, including pop-up performances, family circus and concerts. Kids can join the UNESCO children’s event featuring the book Danger is Everywhere, a fun take on the real and imagined ‘dangers’ that lurk in everyday places. David O’Doherty, a top Irish comedian, author, musician, actor and playwright and Chris Judge, the illustrator will bring the book to life in the children’s literary marquee and will have children and adults in splits with their live show.
Put on your dancing shoes on Monday, 16th March as Festival Céilí promises a mass outdoor celebration of traditional Irish dance at St Stephen’s Green. And on St. Patrick's Day, don't miss the St. Patrick's Festival Parade at 12 pm. Organised by the Government of Ireland, the theme is decided by the festival's organising committee. Themed 'Celebrate Now', the parade will pass by culturally significant and famous monuments including St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin City Hall, Trinity College, the Dublin General Post Office and the Gate Theatre. Bands from all over USA, Germany and Ireland—Bagpipes and Drums of the Emerald Society, Kilgore Rangerettes & All-Stars, Musikkapelle Garmisch, Clondalkin Youth Marching Band and more—will provide music for the parade.

On St. Patrick's Day, (17th March), play Jenga and Beer Pong or compete in hourly Chug-a-thons. That’s not all, devour Irish-inspired grub and guzzle concoctions such as Lunar Leprechaun, Irish Eyes and Shamrock Shooters. Don't forget to dress in green!
Harry's Bar + Cafe, Powai and Juhu
It's a week of some good-old fashioned ‘Craic’ to celebrate St. Paddy's at Harry's. From 12th to 17th March, don some green and gold garb and sip on drinks with quirky names such as Leprechaun’s Luck, Shamrock Mojito, Emerald Isle and Paddy Car Bomb. Beer lovers can stay true to the Irish roots and enjoy the St. Patricks Green Beer.
