Glamour in giving

In its 39th edition now, the Araaish exhibition just keeps getting bigger and better. An initiative by Mana Shetty and her siblings Rahul Kadri and Isha Mehra, sales generated from this one-day fest go straight towards Save The Children India, a foundation started by their late mother Vipula I Kadri. Talking about the show, Mana says, "Araaish has grown leaps and bounds since it first started. The kind of support that we have received from family and friends has been tremendous. In fact, we recently held a successful show in Dubai as well and hope to organise this every year in a different city." Compared to earlier editions, this one promotes young designers who don't have the marketing know-how. On display will be a variety of products ranging from food to stationery, clothes and accessories. The price point has been purposely kept low. Also instead of high-end, traditional apparel there are more Western options for spring. The participants have been chosen from across Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata and Bengaluru and been guided by Sharmilla and Shaan Khanna. Mana admits that having a certain amount of star power at the event definitely helps. "Sunil has always supported me and we've got some great friends from the film fraternity. Whether it is Raveena or Kajol, Twinkle Khanna, Sussanne Khan or Queenie Singh, they're all a phone call away. I think it's great to use power for a good cause and their presence definitely helps in attracting a crowd," adds Mana.
