The latest trend in home decor is the rustic look. One can make maximum use of wood textures and colours for all the elements of interior design, which include furniture, accessories and flooring.

Colours
The rustic theme calls for neutral, natural and earth tones. Choose colours that are warm and have different tones of woods. Brown, green, rust, a muted cousin of vivid and grey-blue reflect the natural look. Powdered versions can also be used to achieve colour correctness. For the bathroom, choose several shades of complementary dark green, with pure white or a  shade of brown for the perfect rustic colour palette.

Make sure you use area rugs with colours that blend well with the floor colour. Ensure that the flooring used for this theme suits the remaining elements of the interior, like furniture and wall colours.

Decoration
Rustic home decorating ideas will inspire you to create a fresh, new atmosphere in your home, which you can adapt to suit your specific needs and lifestyle. The most attractive homes are the ones that have continuity throughout. Plan your own home decorating ideas by deciding on the interior colours you will use, in each room for walls, wood-work, carpets, country curtains, furniture coverings, lamp shades and sofa pillows. Make sure you carefully study the specific style, and colour scheme, then carefully co-ordinate the colours for each element of your home decorating decor.

Flooring
To give an innate look to your dwelling you can choose stone floors, rough textured tiles or wood with natural polish as flooring.  Stones require less maintenance and give warmth as well as beauty with a complete natural look. People use travertine tiles for walls, floors and countertops to achieve that earthy and elegant look. Colours range from soft ivory to pale cream, all the way to rich shades of golden honey and silvery greens to deep mocha browns depending on where they were formed

Maintenance
When tiles are used on a floor or flat surface, the opportunity for stains is there. Any natural material can be damaged and stained, usually easier than man-made materials like ceramic tile. Stone, because it’s porous, has the potential to be stained even more. When tile is used on a counter top or floor, it really needs to be sealed to prevent moisture and dirt from soaking into the natural stone. Cleaning these tiles is easy when the tiles have been finished properly.
