Geeta Basra reveals her fitness secret: Cut the workout monotony

The actress says the secret to her fit body is yoga, jogging and dancing.

Being a Punjabi, Geeta Basra often feels food is her weakness. However, instead of giving up all her favourite foods, the actress prefers to keep her diet simple and controlled. “I feel the more strict one is with their diet, the more they are tempted to break it. I do keep a check on fried foods, sweets and aerated drinks but I haven’t completely given up on anything,” she says. In order to lead a healthy life, Geeta believes one must stay happy and be satisfied with oneself. “Once you are at peace with yourself, you automatically feel happy and life seems good,” she adds.

Due to her long working hours, it’s difficult to squeeze in a satisfying gym session, and therefore she does small sessions instead. “In the morning I do yoga and cardio. And weights in the evening, else I go for a half an hour jog. Yoga and regular jogging always keeps me fresh and relaxed. One should feel positive from within in order to be fit. I’m a firm believer of mental fitness being of primary importance,” she says.

Geeta says that the secret to being fit is cutting the monotony. “When you do the same things over and over again, one is bound to get bored. On days when I’m bored to go to the gym, I dance. Dancing is a real fun way to shed calories and cut the monotony,” she adds with a smile. Keeping her cool is important as well and she says that her calmness and peace of mind comes through yoga, which she started doing about a year back. And is there anything new Geeta wants to try out? “I’ve heard a lot about Yogalates, a fusion of Yoga and Pilates. A few friends have recommended it and I plan to check it out soon,” she ends.
