Graphic liner is a quick and easy way to create statement making eyes. Taking the trend one step further and combining it with the rainbow colour fad (which refuses to completely die down), the floating crease look is a simple way to highlight the area between the eyelid and the brows. Extension of unicorn make-up
This trend of highlighting the area above the socket line has been seen on the runways, says Clint Fernandes, make-up expert. "Last January, models at Chanel's Haute Couture Fashion Week show flaunted a similar look with black liner. Even Prada has sported this in the past, which is now being reinvented with rainbow colours. This is an extension of the unicorn colour fad," he says, adding that these shades don't particularly suit Indian skin tones. "Instead, one can use warmer tones. A gold works well, even yellow, khaki or a lavender hue." Clint warns that acing the look isn't as easy as it looks. One needs a bit of practice. "One can either put a single crease line or create a double liner look for more drama, and finish it off with mascara. You can also use a light eyeshadow on the lid to add some emphasis. Those who have puffy or deep set eyes should avoid this liner look.
Simple yet statement making
Reena Chhabra, head of Nykaa Beauty, says the floating eyeliner look is modern, simple yet bound to make a statement. "A line between your lash line and eyebrows is all you need to get this look. You could create this over your eyeshadow or even above your basic eyeliner. Play it safe with a classic black line. If you're in the mood to experiment, add a coloured crease line, in shades like teal. While this may appear minimalistic, it won't go unnoticed," she says.
More for youngsters
This eye trend is a passing fad, feels Vipul Bhagat, make-up artist. "You need to pick the right type of coloured pot liner to recreate this look. Most creamy formulas won't last on the crease area. Also, be aware of choosing a shade that suits your skin tone. Blue complements Indian skin tones well," says Vipul. He also feels this is suitable for the college-going crowd, who want to experiment for a party. Most mature women won't be able to carry it off. If you want to go funky with this look, Vipul suggests to apply coloured mascara in a contrasting shade to your liner.
