It was around two years ago that Deepshikha Deshmukh discovered that her one-year-old son had severe dry skin issues. As a concerned parent, she searched for a solution and found that every product in the market had some amount of chemicals. There was nothing organic available. Hence, Love    Organically was born as a skin care line for both children and their families that don’t contain aggressive ingredients like sulphates, parabens and GMOs.

“About 40 per cent of what you apply gets absorbed by the skin,” explains Deepshikha, now a mother of two (Vansh and Diviyanaa). “Our line has a range of different products for different functionalities such as dry skin, something to help you sleep better, etc. It includes body washes, lotions, moisturisers, body oils, body butter, massage oils, and hair oils.” She did a lot of research and realised that around 50 per cent of kids are tackling dry skin issues such as eczema. Most creams available in the market just superficially hydrate the skin.

“We use a neem calendula formula where the neem has antibacterial properties and the calendula soothes the skin. Our sleep tight range, has lavender, which has been used for centuries as a tool to aid sleeping. There’s a honey range for normal everyday use and a mogra line for glowing skin. While many others are moving fragrance-free, we want to bring fragrance back, with smell being the strongest of our senses. We want our clients to feel that freshness of a botanical garden. And bring nature back in the dressers and bathrooms,” she says.

The brand was launched three months back initially at exhibitions and is now retailing online on         Amazon as well. “The line is child-friendly, and one can use it on their little ones as early as 18 months. We’re also formulating a special Ayurvedic line with ingredients like saffron for the newborns to 18 months age group as well. The idea was that the parent and child shouldn’t be using something different but instead be able to use the same products,” she says.  All products are paraben and sulphate-free, which can otherwise cause sensitivity of the skin. There’s also no mineral oils and petroleum jelly, which can over time dry out your skin and change the texture.

The line, that has products priced Rs 750 onwards, will expand next year to include sunscreen, mosquito repellents and organic make-up. Since they contain organic ingredients, the shelf life is about two years and once you open it, six months for oils and 12 months for body washes. Deepshikha who has studied organic product formulation and spent more than two years on research, even consulted with various naturopaths and Ayurvedic doctors before finalising her ingredients. She wanted to ensure the products are completely safe for little ones. She also believes in giving back. Deepshikha has tied up with the Snehwan foundation so that a percentage of sales from every product goes towards destitute children.
