Seema is filled with willpower and determination for the marathon

Seema Jassani, a foodie, a photographer and a big Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid fan, is running the DNA iCan Marathon for the first time! However, she has participated in other marathons through the year.

She is running for the girl child education cause in the DNA iCan Marathon. Her reason to participate in the marathon is ‘If you want to run, run in any case. But if you want to experience an assorted perspective of life, run a marathon’! Her iCan moment was completing the marathon.

She never thought in her wildest dreams that she could run 21 kms!! The entire run got her a step closer to herself. She realised she possesses the willpower and determination to a great extent! We wish her all the best and hope she completes the DNA iCan Women’s Half Marathon!

Bhavani's inspirational run

Bhavani is running the DNA iCan Women’s Half Marathon for the second time this year and the cause she is running for is girl child education. Currently on a sabbatical, she was working with a media company until a year ago.

She took up marathon training with the DNA iCan last year and has run three half marathons since, this being her fourth. Her biggest iCan moment she says is training for the half marathon last year with only a month and a half to go and while she was still 20 kilos overweight. She did it well and managed some more marathons in the course of the year.

As far as encouraging girl child education is concerned, she contributes books and more to her household helps’ children! We are very happy that she is running with us, we hope to see her every year, year after year!

Amrita educates her household helps’ daughter

Amrita Mukherjee is running the DNA iCan marathon for the second time this year! She is running for the cause of girl child education and she firmly believes in the cause.

Being the only child, one would think she would have got a very protective upbringing but her parents whisked her off abroad for higher studies, hoping the exposure to a different culture will make a world of a difference to her outlook. And this move was very well taken by Amrita and she says she has returned more alert and receptive.

While on vacation from her university studies in Mumbai, Amrita would take time out to teach street children. Since she resides in Mumbai, every Saturday, she teaches, her household helps’ daughter. She feels the boy child always gets their way out but it is the girls who suffer and their education is a must! We need more samaritans like Amrita and we are glad that she is running with us!

Foram is running to promote fitness amongst women

Foram Gosrani spoke with us when she was training with her group of 15 people she is running with for the DNA iCan marathon. Foram is running for girl child education but her group as a whole is promoting fitness amongst women. She feels women, due to their numerous chores and household duties, miss out on this very crucial need of the human body and as a result it is important to promote it.

Since Foram was training and talking, we didn’t want to keep her long, so we let her go complete her training while we decided to do the write up! Looking forward to meeting the ‘fab fifteen’ at the marathon!

“I taught children in my free time”, says Divya

The DNA iCan Women’s Half Marathon brings women together from all walks of life. Be it corporates, artists, teachers or professionals — they all come together to celebrate the woman in them. Divya Shetty, a finance professional working with a leading financial institution is running this year for the education for the girl child.

Though time constraints force most people to ignore their social duties, Divya isn’t one of them. She has taken up the issue of girl child education with extreme seriousness. The Akanksha Foundation, which takes up the onus to teach underpriviledged children, is always in need of volunteers.

Divya, became one of the volunteers of Akanksha and taught underpriviledged children for a period of seven months. She believes that this is her iCan moment and as a result is running for girl child education. Divya inspires us and we love her spirit!
