Vasundhara Patni (daughter of industrialist Harsh Goenka) along with her husband Apoorva are looking to give children an interesting, interactive and holistic education experience. For this they have tied up with a university abroad. Vasundhara says, “It’s an after-school project where kids will be taught different concepts, but in a way that will prompt them to get back to classes to learn more. This is not a class where teachers will talk to the students and students would just have to listen. With different methods like games, experiments and others, teachers will make sure that kids get a hands-on experience about what they are learning and hence can relate to the subject better.”

Vasundhara, who has a little nephew, claims that he and all other kids his age are way smarter than she and people of her generation were, when they were kids.

“It is necessary that kids are taught to think on their own and not spoon fed,” she says, adding, “As a kid, the only way we learnt antonyms was by mugging them. But here (in her after-school) the kids are taught the same by making them play an interactive game of Bingo and Housie. This is how things should be taught. And kids will surely have a more enriching education if such systems are followed.”
