Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience (VFDE) was an intoxicating cocktail of couture, carats, caviar and champagne. Welcoming over 400,000 visitors from around the world, the breathtaking city officially joined the league of global fashion capitals with the inaugural fashion extravaganza, a celebration of high fashion, held for the first time in the Middle East, at The Dubai Mall.
Organised by Emaar Properties and Vogue Italia, the VFDE also raised AED 5 million for Dubai Cares to promote primary education of children in underprivileged communities globally.
Designers like Donatella Versace, Roberto Cavalli, Silvia Fendi, Riccardo Tisci, Dean and Dan Caten of Dsquared2 and Philipp Plein lived it all up at the event.
One of the highlights was the fashion show at the Dubai Mall, displaying the works of eight emerging designers: Wadha Al Hajri from Qatar; Mohammed Ashi and Razan Alazzouni from Saudi Arabia; Lulwa Al Amin from Bahrain; Ituen Basi from Nigeria; Simone Rocha from Ireland; Andrea Incontri from Italy; and Esme Vie from Russia. All of them were mentored by Franca Sozzani.
