The muffler man - politician Arvind Kejriwal may have won the heart of Delhi and the rest of the nation but his personal style has always been in the eye of storm. Considering he's the toast of the country now, the frumpy shirts and the uggh-inducing muffler need to disappear right away and how. We ask designer Ashley Rebello to give him four distinctive looks which complement his persona as common man's leader and also improvise his style quotient to a great extent. Says Ashley, "He needs to do away with the muffler asap. The thick and heavy fabric of the muffler just doesn't add to his style. I'd recommend handwoven, on-trend stoles which are much more smart and also fan out a message for women's empowerment and a boost for our handicraft industry."
Kejriwal is known to feel very cold around his ears so should he opt for ear muffs? "I would not recommend ear muffs. In fact, he should go for ear plugs which will keep him from cold. Ear plugs spell chic and fashion-forward compared to the muffler," adds Ashley.

Classic preppy
Instead of the full-sleeved, windowpane check shirts Kejriwal usually wears, he can take a preppy chic look. Says Ashley, "He is always seen in these loose-fitting shirts which do little to accentuate his frame. I'd recommend a jumper or a sweater like a cricketer's vest. Perhaps an off-white sweater with a blue piping worn over a coloured shirt will be a dapper combo. A pair of well-fitted khaki pants should be a great addition to this look."

Casual chic
Our politicians are used to donning khadi kurtas but the right kurta can work wonders if worn correctly.
"Another good alternative to the full-sleeved shirt is a high-collar kurta with buttons running down. The stylish kurta can be worn with a sweater vest too. He can throw in a pair of flat-front trousers in perhaps canvas material for the great finish," says Ashley.

Mix and match
A classic well-cut jacket would be a great separate to his wardrobe. "The jacket is a great layering option and he can mix and match it with many separates. A navy blue jacket beautifully offsets a pair of grey trousers. He can go for an ice blue shirt inside and throw in a smart stole," says Ashley.
Ashley's made all the buttons in separates with AAP's jharoo logo.

Formal dapper
One can never go wrong with the classic bandhgala - the ultimate Indian sartorial staple. "A smart and chic bandhgala with buttons mirroring his party's motif can be a great addition to his evening closet. He should accessorise with a smart stole and a pair of Gandhi-inspired eye frames which also echo the ethos of cleanliness. I'd suggest dual shade sunglasses too. Also, the Gandhi-style cap is a must-have as it has come to become his signature style and identity," says he.
