If you thought bento box comprises only the traditional home-packed Japanese cuisine then you are in for a treat when you walk in to Dimcha. It boasts of Thai, Chinese and Malaysian cuisines and has now introduced bento boxes with the same. These meal boxes come in six different boxes with vegetarian and non vegetarian options.

What goes into the box

In the vegetarian section, you can can choose from — Mr Green

(Rs 299, plus taxes) and Veggies Delight (Rs 369, plus taxes). Mr Green bento box comprises vegetable manchurian tossed with crushed black pepper, Green curry fried rice, assorted vegetarian dumplings and crispy raw papaya salad. In Veggies Delight bento box you can have a green curry vegetable, jasmine rice, raw papaya salad and assorted veg dumplings. The former had us digging into the raw papaya salad which is  perfect for summer.

Also, enjoyed the assorted dumplings. The green curry in the latter lacked the flavour of lemon grass and was not one of our favourites. In the non vegetarian bento box, we tried the Dimcha special bento box (Rs 499, plus taxes) which had sliced chicken mala sauce, chicken basil spring roll, old Beijing-style fried noodles and raw papaya salad. Again, both the vegetarian and non vegetarian boxes had the same papaya salad, which was crunchy, spicy and topped with a lot of peanuts. Chicken, noodles and spring rolls were delicious and made this a fantastic meal box for one person. What also caught our attention was the Emperors Plate Bento box (Rs 499, plus taxes). This box comprises of stir fried chicken in Hoisin Chili Sauce with cashewnut, assorted non veg dumplings, french bean and tofu salad and pan fried noodles. Other two boxes available on the menu are Highway(Rs 499, plus taxes) and From The Land (Rs 399, plus taxes).

Our verdict: These bento boxes are a steal as as you can have salad, starters and a main course starting from Rs 299, plus taxes. With your bento boxes you can also add a beer for Rs 49, plus taxes and a pitcher of cocktail (IMFL) at Rs  399, plus taxes.
