We have all heard of coin and stamp collectors, but what if we told you that there are those who hoard on lipsticks, eye shadows, foundations and shower gels too? Delhi-based Ritu Rajput, editor at www.theindianbeauty.com has been obsessed about makeup every since she can remember.

"Like every little girl, my first makeup product was a lipstick from my mom's makeup collection. Unlike me, her arsenal consisted only of humble bindis and lipsticks, but I remember borrowing even those at a very tender age. Today I have over 300 products and I'm adding more each day," says Rajput.

The 27-year-old, who has an educational qualification of a clinical researcher ditched working for fancy hospitals and MNC in the capital to peruse her passion for makeup, blogging, entrepreneurship and e-commerce. She currently runs two lifestyle blogs, out of which one is extremely popular among Indian readers for frank reviews of almost all beauty brands hitting the market and has around 31,000 followers on Facebook.

What fascinates Rajput about makeup is its ability to make you feel better in a jiffy. Be it post breakup stress, lack of confidence before an interview, a nerve wrecking meeting or a first date – makeup is one thing that can transform your mood quickly. "It only takes a single stroke of brush to change your look every day," says she.

According to her there is a strong connection between skin and the mind. She says, "I completely believe that if one is stressed, it is bound to reflect on their face and makeup cannot mask that. At the same time if you are a happy person, full of positive thoughts, you are bound to glow and look effortlessly beautiful."

Ritu feels that many people misunderstand cosmetics as something they can use to hide their true self. "In fact, I feel that one must use makeup only to enhance what they already have. Sometimes I see women hide a mole on their face even if it looks stunning on them. Not everything can be looked upon as an imperfection," says Rajput.

She believes that there is a fine balance that needs to be maintained while applying makeup. While dressing for the occasion is vital, it is also important to look graceful and feminine and not intimidating to an outsider.

Rajput has extreme sentimental value for her vintage makep as well. "I have some products that probably nobody even remembers! Like my Lakme Ultrablush blush and Lakme Ultrashade were one of their early launches. Then there is the Elle-18 lipstick from the first packaging they launched- a frosty silver box that I still have intact. I obviously do not use these, but they will stay with me forever. I might even pass these on to my daughter," she says.
