He might have started his career as a GenNext designer in 2007 at the Lakme Fashion Week, but Nachiket Barve has definitely come a long way as he currently stands as one of the best hot-shot young designers of the country. Nachiket is showcasing an Autumn-Winter line at the fashion week themed Abstraction.

“Abstraction means open to interpretation. Taking the notion of abstraction along, the collection has derived inspiration from various examples of symmetry, texture, pattern that one sees in nature as well as man-made art works and objects. Shadows of tree branches, foam bubbles, molecular structures, DNA diagrams, works of artists such as Tara Donovan as well as geometry seen in the Fibonacci series are the starting points for the creative thinking for the collection,” reveals Nachiket.

The designers line this time is both intellectual and effortless as he further adds: “As a departure from the riot of colours that I usually play with, this time, the focus is more on a strong minimal bolder graphic colour palette. Black and white forms the foundation of the collection with red, silver, azure and purple adding an element of freshness. More focus is on an innovative way to embellish textiles using fabric itself, where the surface becomes 3D.”

Nachiket, who has already catered to clients like Aishwarya Rai, Sonali Bendre, Sonam Kapoor and high profile society swans and corporate head honchos, has taken layering to another level this year with fascinating experiments in the hemlines.

He ends saying: “Hemlines and edgings come into focus as dresses seem to erode and crumble away. Separates are layered together to create looks where fabric becomes complex, contemporary, fresh and creative.”
