If you've always secretly wanted to kindle your passion for food beyond gobbling good food, then the world wide web is the best place to start at. The best part about learning how to cook or bake through blogs and videos is that you can define your own pace and determine the complexity of the recipe that you want to attempt. Here's our quick guide to food enthusiasts, most of whom started by just blogging on food, and have now transformed into superstars for their thousands of followers.

Saffron Trail: Run by Bangalore-based nutritionist and food blogger Nandita Iyer, Saffron Trail is a popular blog and a youtube channel that has over 35 lakh visitors and 1,100 subscribers respectively. Iyer stresses on tasty yet healthy eating. Pasta, poriyal or pancakes, Iyer has recipes for all. Mothers looking to feed fussy children that perfect evening snack, must take note.

Eat and Dust: The blog is run by Scottish Indophile and columnist Pamela Timms, whose book on Old Delhi Korma, Kheer and Kismet, which released earlier this year was well-received by food connoisseurs. It is evident that she loves the wonders of Old Delhi; Indian food like moong dal ke laddoo and egg parantha jostle for space with the likes of plum flaugnardes and chocolate coconut cakes. This blog is a food-lover's heaven.

The Maria Goretti Corner: The former veejay has had this channel on youtube since 2010. Baked chicken, enoki mushroom risotto, chettinad potatoes, the effusive Goretti makes cooking look like a dream.

Finely chopped: Kalyan Karmakar's travails across the length and breadth of the country in search of the perfect pujo bhog, or the right Norwegian smoked salmon, or how to whip up the perfect posto murg has a lot of followers. This columnist also holds timely food walks.

Foodaholics: Pastry chef, food consultant and food blogger, Kishi Arora, who's had her training from the Culinary Institute of America, has over 10,000 followers on twitter. Pecan chocolate apricot honey granola recipes, air-fried cheese-filled olives and foxtail millet kheer are some of the recipes that she tries when not baking. When she is baking, expect fudges, cakes covered in edible disco dust and baileys chocolate cheesecake.
