Keep calm and crab on’ can easily be the mantra to live by as you don a bib and settle in to enjoy a spread of crustaceans fished from the wild.

Dharshan Munidasa’s award-winning Sri Lankan seafood restaurant Ministry of Crab has opened its first outpost in the country in suburban Khar and promises to dish out the food they are known for.

FRESH CATCH AND MORE

Quizzed about the location, Ramit Bharti Mittal, CEO of Gourmet Investments Pvt Ltd, Deepinder Batth, COO of Gourmet Investments Pvt. Ltd, mention that the brand shares a special connection with Bandra as a lot of patrons who have made a trip to Ministry of Crab in Sri Lanka reside here in close proximity to Zaveri House that houses  the popular seafood haunt. It’s the Colombian connect in India, and hence it made sense to bridge the gap with its first outpost in India in suburban Khar. The restaurant is spread over three levels with two PDRs in the basement, and a small al-fresco seating area.

WHAT’S ON THE MENU?

The Avocado Crab Salad (Rs 675), served with wasabi mayo in half an avocado is a delicious start to a meal that showcases different preparations of crabs. Signature dishes like the Black Pepper Crab and the Garlic Chilli Crab are definitely worth a try, and are available in different sizes and can be prepared in different sauces. The Clay Pot Prawn Curry that has some gigantic succulent prawns is served in a flavourful curry, accompanied by Kade bread (traditional Sri-Lankan wood-fired bread). The best way to have both is to use the bread to mop up the delicious gravy, as you finish off the prawns. Wrap up your meal with The Story of Cacao (Rs 495). A cacao pod served here on a bed of soil and gravel that also has a touch of chilli to cut and balance the sweet and bitter taste. Once broken the pod reveals some bitter chocolate and roasted cacao nibs. This dessert is a great finish to a feast of crabs.
