Checks, grids and tartan prints were the ramp mainstay at the fashion week in Delhi. While Munkee See Munkee Doo sent out a plaid twin-set, Pawan Sachdeva showcased a head-to-toe grid print ensemble. Payal Pratap too toyed with the classic check in a soft, organic style and Sahil Aneja in his menswear offering presented it in an athleisure style.

Designer Aniket Satam says, “For SS 19, sartorial checks are trending big time on both global and Indian runways. Unlike the conventional gingham, this print is more menswear-inspired in darker tones, which are generally associated with winters. Contrasting monochrome along with deep reds, browns and mustard are doing great in context of checks. The classic gingham with floral embroidery has emerged as an interesting summer essential as seen on the runways of Payal Pratap and Shruti Sancheti. Check coordinates with a graphic inner is another great option for guys for summer getaways. In context of fabrics, seersucker, cotton and lightweight linen are apt for this chequered pattern.”
