Not many get a chance to perform at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Massachusetts, and certainly not the non-alumnus. However, Clinton Cerejo is an exception. “My first reaction to the invitation from Berklee College of Music was ‘Wow’. It took me back to 20 years ago when I wanted to go to Berklee to study music and obviously didn’t pursue the idea because it was out of reach at the time. Feels absolutely special to be going there in another capacity many years later,” he says.

The music composer-singer has been invited to participate in a four-day Residency at the Berklee campus as a mentor, as part of which he will be conducting workshops for a group of students from across 21 countries between November 22 and 26.

“Berklee is definitely regarded as one of the best music institutions in the world and to be invited to conduct a Master Class is a huge honour and privilege. I was happy to see legendary musicians like Victor Wooten, Antonio Sanchez (Pat Metheny Band) and Ninnena Freelon also conducting master classes this semester,” he says. Some of the songs they are going to be performing will be Baina, Madaari, Chadd De and Pir Jalani from Coke Studio at MTV repertoire of Seasons 2 and 3. “I am also looking at the possibility of writing an orchestral arrangement of the Indian National Anthem to be performed by the student orchestra at the concert,” he added.
