The Bombay High Court on Monday restrained the police from filing a chargesheet  against Shirin Dalvi, ex-editor of Urdu newspaper Awadhnama, until the court finally hears the quashing petition filed by her.

The Urdu newspaper had carried the cover page of French weekly Charlie Hebdo on its front-page. After a series of complaints, the paper had issued an apology.

Following FIRs registered against Dalvi in Mumbai, Thane and Malegaon, she moved the Bombay HC seeking quashing of cases against her and transferring of all FIRs to a single police station.

The court has also asked the police from not taking any coercive steps against Dalvi.
