When it comes to eyebrows, the last couple of years have seen an increase in women opting for a thicker, fuller-looking brow, following the footsteps of models like Cara Delevingne. However, the opposite look has also been gaining attention – the barely there, bleached eyebrow. It was first seen on pop icons Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus who are known for their experimentive looks. Miley was spotted on the cover of W magazine March issue with bleached brows. Kendall Jenner walked for the Marc Jacobs fall 2014 show with a similar look, that was seen at the Alexander Wang show as well. More recently, Katy Perry and Rita Ora have both posted pictures of themselves with virtually invisible eyebrows on Instagram, sparking an interest in this beauty look. This trend though may not be for everyone and may be best saved for the runway and magazine shoots. The bleached brows lends an androgynous and edgy look to the wearer and may help to emphasise other facial features.

Softens the face
Lightened eyebrows can look good on some people especially fair skinned women feels Kapil Bhalla, make-up expert. "They soften the face to an extent and look great when paired with a bold lip colour or dark eyes. Going totally bleached is more of a fashion statement but women should lighten their brows to match their hair colour. One can play up the mouth in mart fuchsia or red and keep the eyes neutral with a simple liner or mascara. If emphasising the eyes, use brown instead of black liner which can look harsh," he says.

Take precautions
Priya Kapur, hair and make-up expert says this isn't a look she recommends trying out offhand. "Creating faux bleached brows for a few photos can help those on the fence decide whether or not to go all out with cream bleach. The trick is either asking your colourist to lighten your brows a little during your next appointment, or taking a few precautions if you want to try it at home. Applying bleach near your eyes can be dangerous. Use a cotton swab to apply a cream hair bleach to brows. Don't glob it on -- use just enough to cover the hairs, as extra product can fall into your eyes. Leave on just a minute or two and then remove with a washcloth dipped in warm water. Dress up your lips with a pop of colour; berry and orange lips are a huge trend this season and can be used to enhance that one distinct feature," she says.

At home results
Dr Jaishree Manchanda, cosmetologist, founder of Berkowits Skin & Health Care Feels having "no eyebrows" is not a trend. "Having no eyebrows or even very light brows, makes you look a bit strange, specially in India where we have beautiful black or brown ones and the trend is to lift them. Those looking to bleach eyebrows at home can try with lemon juice. Eyebrows should never be coloured with regular hair dye. Instead Mix equal parts chamomile tea and lemon juice and gently apply to your eyebrows daily for gradual and natural results."
