Those who know anything about art would vouch for Deepak Shinde's work. Trained under the art guru himself, the Late Vasudeo Gaitonde, Shinde has made a name for himself all over the art world. He will be showcasing his solo exhibition, Co-Existence, almost after gap of four years. Alongside this is also the launch of his coffee table book "Colourful Crossing- My Journey through Forty+ years of painting". The book depicts his journey depicting the 40+ years he has spent in the mesmerising art world. There will also be Limited Edition Signed Prints of some of the most significant work by him. Shinde has always voiced his social and ecological concerns of the society within the unsolicited domains of the whole art and through his masterpieces. "I want my art to be more than just an aesthetic form or expression. My art is a way to connect human intelligence, intrigue and enquiries. Social values and concerns are intrinsic in my art. So it is futuristic and significant," he says.

Life is all about perceiving and then expressing. It is all about receiving, collecting or gathering from our immediate environment and from the world at large. However, in our daily rush of existence we take from nature and give back rarely in equal measure of quality and quantity. "As an artist I have always been inspired by nature and the natural world. Born and brought up in a rural environment, I feel, made me more empathetic to the world of animals. Throughout my childhood I have observed nature in all her forms being worshipped. It has also been an unfailing source of inspiration. Animals have served as suitable metaphors for the human world. From being emissaries to being vehicles to transport the Gods, animals are quintessential to the Indian psyche. I am determined to use my art to give back to nature," he says.

WHEN & WHERE: Till December 29, 11 am to 7 pm, Jehangir Art Gallery, Kala Ghoda
