An ode to Sriracha sauce

I was introduced to this hot sauce (only in name because I was yet to try it) by a close friend who had studied in the US and had just got back. He swore by its potent powers of leaving you gasping for water.  We dropped by popular departmental stores across the city hoping to lay our hands on this spicy sauce, but it seemed to elude us like an oasis in the desert. Finally, giving up, I picked two bottles on my trip to the US.  “A transparent bottle with a thick spicy sauce, hard to miss because of its green cap with a rooster drawn on it,” was how he described it, and I must say that it did not disappoint. This one is a great buy.

Whether it’s a burger, fries, maggi noodles or a cutlet, this sauce compliments it and gives it that extra kick that makes it hard to resist.  It’s pretty popular on the other side of the continent and people are seriously obsessed, with fan clubs dedicated to it. You can buy everything from sriracha water bottles to sriracha lollipops to sriracha IVs — proof of its growing clout and popularity in the hot sauce market.

Available at grocery stores in the US for about $4. Please let us know if anyone stocks it here too.
