An immersive experience of another kind

Audience will be introduced to different scents from each story and escorted to the performance space with blindfolds while actors whisper statements and plea in their ears giving them enhanced sensory experience that later helps audiences to connect with the protagonist and their stories.

'Social', which is mostly popular for music gigs will host a sensory experience based performance of classic stories. Stories that narrate ordeal faced by women in our society bringing out its much darker side. Although the stories date back as old as 1938 they are still very much relevant in current scenario where every other day newspapers report cases of rape, child abuse, and domestic violence. 

Rangaai Theatre Company (RTC) will present its agenda of making youth realise the pain and misery that the victims face and arose feeling of disgust for these heinous abuses. "We wish to bring change in sentiments of youngsters and spread awareness regarding these issues; We want to introduce our audience to the grim side of our society where things are not always in favor rather Murphy's Law prevails.To achieve this we use an infamous technique devised by a French Dramatist Antonin Artaud from 1920s called Theatre of Cruelty. Other forms that are used are Shadow Act, Modern take on Urdu Dastangoi and Interactive form," explained Tushar Dalvi of Rangaai Theater Company,

About the play:      

The Darkroom 2.0 is more advanced and upgraded version of an earlier show called The Darkroom Project. This is not merely a theatre performance rather with 2.0 version it has evolved into an immersive journey that has audience travel through the space while not just seeing classic stories being performed but experiencing them with multiple senses. It's not just about the proximity, but we break the barrier between audience and actors, giving the viewers the power to engage, react and make a difference. 

Designed and directed by Tushar Dalvi of Rangaai Theater Company,these performances are authentic piece from varied ages in which our audience will sense, smell, hear, touch and react to nerve shattering incidents from the darkest corners of our society. These four classical stories are unfolded in a unique manner in front of you.
