While Lasith Malinga and Rohit Sharma were ranged on different sides in the T-20 final and some of their other players are on national duty, the Mumbai Indians management has already begun the countdown for the upcoming IPL season. On Saturday the franchise kicked off its camp at Wankhede Stadium which besides the entire support staff was also attended by a few players. It was the first day and there's still time before the full house congregates to plan the season, which is probably why no one really expected that Nita Ambani would drop in for a courtesy call.
Nita spent some time with chief coach John Wright, fielding coach Jonty Rhodes, team mentor Anil Kumble and pace spearhead Zaheer Khan before heading out to shoot a feature in connection with the educational NGO she has formed. With the action heating up for the football league she is promoting, there's already enough on her plate.
Though the Mumbai Indians have decided not to bid for a franchise in the football Indian Super League since IMG -Reliance has the master rights for the tournament, there's much excitement in store for bidders like Shah Rukh, Sourav Ganguly and Abhishek Bachchan with franchise winners likely to be announced this week. So while she'll be in the thick of action in this one as well, at least it's some relief that she doesn't have to worry about simultaneously having to manage a football team as well.
