When Nikki Thakker decided to start something of her own, she knew it would have to be with chocolates. “I am very passionate about them!” says the entrepreneur, who left lucrative marketing offers to open Entisi — a one-stop shop for anything and everything to do with chocolate! While the first store opened in Santacruz recently, Thakker plans to open a number of stores in the country for the artisanal chocolate luxury brand. Presently, one can purchase Bon Bons (center-filled chocolates), Dragees (whole nuts coated with chocolates), fruit and nut bars and Single Origin bars.
Flavoursome affair
It’s the use of 100 per cent cocoa butter that sets her brand apart from others, claims Nikki. “And you’ll know that when they just melt in your mouth,” she smiles. We decide to test her claim and pop a Salted Caramel Surprise Bon Bon in our mouth. The salted caramel pearls inside add that extra crunch to an otherwise creamy, and yes, melt-in-the-mouth, affair! The Sesame Squares with crunchy caramelised sesame at the bottom and milk chocolate blended with sesame paste reminds us instantly of chikki, the Indian sweet. “That was the inspiration,” admits Nikki with a smile. The Raspberry has a chocolate and raspberry ganache encased in dark chocolate and we savour the sweet taste of the raspberries with the chocolate. The Espresso delivers a strong coffee kick with its whole coffee beans infused in cream and dark chocolate — a must-have for coffee lovers! The Ginger Lime, we keep for the end. The tanginess of the lime is in perfect balance with the strong flavour of ginger.
Best from the rest
Among the Dragees, our pick is the Pistachio for its salted goodness cutting the sweetness of the milk chocolate and the Cranberry for its slightly tarty taste mingled with the chocolate. The fruit and nut bars come in a variety of flavours, too, but the Coffee Cookie Crumble and the Cranberry with White Chocolate are worth mentioning for their unique flavours. As for the Single Origin bars, there is Ecuador, Ghana, Madagaskar and Tanzanie to choose from. Our suggestion? Go, indulge!
