Giraffe DPs

This year many of us were swamped with notifications informing us that our friends had suddenly had a literal image makeover with their DPs (display pictures for the uninitiated) sporting pictures of giraffes. While this move was interesting initially, it later on started getting on our nerves as many of our Facebook friends jumped in on the Giraffe DP bandwagon, admitting they could not get a riddle right. We don’t really care about the success of figuring riddles, but are still trying to figure why this trend caught on.

Colour of the bra updates

Recollect this post? Just write the colour of your bra in your status ... just the colour, nothing else, and send this to ONLY girls no men ... it will be neat to see if this will spread the wings of cancer awareness. It will be fun to see how long it takes before the men will wonder why all the girls have a colour in their status ... thanks ladies! Well the intention to create cancer awareness was noble, we are not sure how a Facebook status update announcing the colour of your bra really helped the cause. Definitely, something we don’t want to see or read in 2014.

Food porn

Many of us including me are guilty of committing this crime, using instagram and Facebook to share pictures of everything you eat. While we would like to think that we are not that extreme with our occasional posts there are many who bombard your wall with constant updates and this can be especially annoying if you don’t eat out much or are simply not a foodie.

Farmville and other facebook game requests

Online gaming addicts suddenly turned virtual farmers and you could find them hiding in every nook and corner of cyberspace waiting to invade your timeline with annoying farmville requests, and unfortunately it did not end there. When the farmville craze died down, Criminal Case and Candy Crush caught our fancies. So, let’s vow not to flood our friends walls with annoying game requests even though we may continue to enjoy playing these games on a silent note.

Your friend’s status about an impending trip abroad

Remember these? While you turned green with envy thinking your facebook pal was flying to your favourite destination in a few months, little did you know that this was far from reality. In fact, it was just a code to decode your friend’s birthday. Aspirational update? Yes, smart? Definitely no.

The posers

Whether it’s holiday pics, marriage pics or baby pictures. These perpetual posers constantly update their timeline and crowd yours with a million images of their different ‘special oaccasions’. Not everyone wants to be be greeted with baby pictures, holiday pics or marriage/engagements snaps everytime they sign into Facebook. It may make news if you are Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, but otherwise no one will really care. If you have to share, create a page and give a select few access to it.

Bitstrips

Another irritating trend that we would rather see the back off. We found these cute initially, like it happens with most trends when they start off, till it starts getting to you. While your friends may think the cartoon strips starring them are cute, you feel like you have gone back to kindergarden, and your wall has become a virtual scrapbook for kids.
