LONG ISLAND ICED TEA

The origin of this drink can be traced back to the days of prohibition in the United States of America. Alcohol was banned and several drinks were given misleading names to confuse the government authorities. Also, the colour and taste of this drink bears resemblance to iced tea. A popular version mixes equal parts vodka, gin, tequila, rum, and triple sec with 1½ parts sour mix and a splash of cola, which gives the drink the same amber hue as its namesake.

INGREDIENTS
15ml Tequila
15ml Vodka
15ml White rum
15ml Triple sec
15ml Gin
25ml Lemon juice
Cola to top up

METHOD
Add all ingredients into highball glass filled with ice. Stir gently. Garnish with lemon spiral. Serve with straw

BLUE HAWAII

A true example of a bartender’s creativity, this drink dates back to the 1950’s when the Dutch distiller Bols commissioned bartender Harry Yee, legendary head bartender of the Hilton Hawaiian Village(formerly the Kaiser Hawaiian Village) in Waikiki, Hawaii, to concoct a drink that highlights the blue colour of their Curacao liqueur.

INGREDIENTS
30ml Light rum
30ml Vodka
15ml Curaçao
90ml Pineapple juice
30ml Sweet and Sour mix

WHITE RUSSIAN

The traditional cocktail known as a Black Russian, which first appeared in 1949, becomes a White Russian with the addition of cream. Neither drink is Russian in origin, but both are so named due to vodka being the primary ingredient. Made infamous by The Dude’s in The Big Lebowski, the White Russian is a classic vodka cocktail. Sweet, creamy and boozy, this three ingredient cocktail is dessert in a glass – an old fashioned glass, no less – with the ability to get you tipsy in no time.

INGREDIENTS
2 oz Vodka
1 oz Kahlúa
Heavy cream

METHOD
Add the vodka and Kahlúa to an Old Fashioned glass filled with ice. Top with a large splash of heavy cream and stir.
