While most New Year resolutions would've been done and dusted with by now, there’s one you cannot afford to break. Come what may, don't give up on your beauty resolution! AFTERhrs spoke to beauty experts and makeup artistes to help you with a perfect skincare routine, and get gorgeous, glowing skin with some simple beauty hacks.

Water intake & healthy diet

Beauty expert Ritu Deswal of Style n Scissors suggests, “Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day and eat high-fibre, nutritious food. Get at least 7 hours of sleep and make sure you apply a sunscreen before stepping out of home.” Jaipur-based makeup artiste, Bhavikaa Saluja also suggests the same, “Drink more water and keep your skin moisturised — hydration is the key to a healthy skin. Invest in face masks and sheets and never skip your sunscreen! Eat food that is healthier for your skin.”

Remove makeup every night

Your skin is your best accessory and you must take good care of it. “Always clean your makeup brushes and beauty tools. Never sleep with your makeup on; that is the worst thing you can do to your skin. You will have to deal with a lot of skincare issues like acne, allergies and dryness if you make this beauty mistake,” says Bhavikaa. “Do not sleep without removing makeup from your face every night and invest in a good, retinol-based anti-ageing cream. Do not use poor quality, expired makeup products on your skin and also get regular clean-ups so that the skin gets the much-needed TLC once in a while. Exfoliate your skin at least once a week with a good scrub,” adds Deswal.

Use organic beauty products

Make your skin healthy and rejuvenating this year with beauty resolutions that every girl should make. “Stay away from chemical laden beauty products and instead opt for natural and organic beauty products as much as possible. These organic products have abundance of natural ingredients that are rich in anti-oxidants and skin rejuvenating properties. Water and nutrients intake and a healthy diet can give you a blemish-free skin. Include green veggies, fruits, flax seed, nuts, and salmon in your daily diet for achieving flawless skin,” says Purnima Goyal, beauty expert at Silverine Spa and Salon.

Face serum, hydrating masks

Women must focus both on skin care and hair care round the year. “Use face serums instead of creams. Do not skip using a sunscreen (use a good one!) to avoid getting freckles. Use lots and lots of gel packs and hydrating masks. I, too, have introduced raw veggies and fruits into my diet along with a 45-minutes Pranayam exercise; all the girls should do that,” shares makeup artiste Shriya Pardal. “Be it 2018 or 2019, there are a few basic steps to be taken care of, especially by a professional MUA. Choose the correct colour palette as per the skin tone and attire. The key is to do everything perfectly with proper application techniques rather than running behind the latest trend,” she adds.

Cleanse, tone, moisturise

Makeup artiste Shreya Taneja shares, “People usually erroneously take the concept of makeup, believing that applying lots of layers will make them look more glowing and attractive. But in 2019, we need to understand that makeup works only when you take care of your skin. It can even out skin’s imperfections for a few hours but for a natural inner glow and evenness, the body and skin must get nutrients and cleansing.” She adds, “Take a resolution to drink lots and lots of water for fresh, glowing skin. Follow your CTMS (cleanse, toning, moisturise and sunscreen) routine tirelessly.”
