Kolkata-based designer Komal Sood is super excited about her first show at the soon-to-commence Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012.
Tell us more about the collection?
For this collection, we have literally picked up the paintbrush and stroked the georgette and chiffon gowns using bright colours, creating a piece of work within each piece. Sticking to contrasting colours and fusing them together in a graphic free form, each piece comes together with either a sexy neckline or a sequin and stone embellishment. Whether it’s a long gown or a mini dress, each item has been used as a canvas, making it original and unique.
Who/what inspired this collection?
The inspiration for this collection comes from the vibrant colours and joie-de-vivre of Holi. We bid adieu to the boring winter days to welcome gorgeous spring with this collection that draws inspiration from a feeling of merriment. The woman who drapes herself in these pieces is in love with life, indulgent in finesse and only requires the finest of materials to wrap her body.

All the ensembles in my collection are show-stoppers.

It has to be Padma Lakshmi.
What does summer/resort mean to you?
My label Komal Sood is more on the lines of couture, hence, even our resort collection is very luxe. Resort makes me think of holidays, freedom and brilliant colours.
