Kapil and Monika Arora add Swarovski to their wedding collection

With their new wedding collection, designers Kapil and Monika Arora intend to add Swarovski sparkle to the most momentous occasion of your life and make it a ruby and emerald-studded affair. The designer duo tells DNA more about offering a special gold and zardosi-laden treat to brides...

Tell us more about the collection.
The collection comprises of jeweled tones like emeralds, rubies and swarovskis. There is also a strong play of fabrics this season with different textures, such as the use of net with beautiful gold embellished motifs. The lehengas are teamed with corsets in crushed tissues. Our collection also involves heavy zardosi artmanship and the outfits complement the 21st century bride.

What do you envision a modern 21st century bride to be like?
A modern 21st century bride is the multi-tasking queen. She is a diva who balances her home and career with ease and glamour. She is the perfect blend of modernity with strokes of traditionalism. Therefore, in our creations, you can see how we have transformed the regular bridal wear keeping the modern day woman’s preferences in mind.

How has bridal wear evolved to suit the modern bride?
It absolutely has transformed; the colour palettes used now are more in variation from the traditional maroons, reds and greens. Now we can see brides getting bolder with their choice of outfits, therefore we can see more of goldens, pinks, greens and yellows. There has been a variation in the cuts from flares to fish cut lehengas and more kalis in the lehengas.

What is “in” this wedding season?
We see brides getting bolder, going in for deeper necklines and choli cuts; along with antique work done in zardozi since it gives the perfect regal look. We also suggest more of nets with gold sheeting while velvets top the fabric charts!

What is the worst wedding trousseau faux pas?

The worst is to have too much in one garment. One must keep the work heavy but intricate at the same time, as it gives the body more structure as well as the needed amount of class and elegance.
