Sleep is the best beauty therapy ever: Dipannita Sharma

After gracing the ramps for many years, Dipannita Sharma turned to acting making her debut with 16 December and more recently having featured in Coffee with D and web series Untag. When she’s not in front of the cameras though, the leggy beauty likes to keep it simple. And despite access to some of the best luxury products, she still swears by natural remedies.

What are your make-up kit essentials?

A lip and cheek colour, black and brown kohl pencils, mascara, a bright shade of lip colour in coral, red or plum and a lightweight cream and water-based foundation.

What’s your skin care routine like?

The first thing I use in the morning is some rose water. Once that dries up, I use my day cream/moisturiser with SPF. In the night, I wash my face with a moisturising face wash and then use a night cream or organic coconut oil. I also try and use homemade face masks such as plain honey or honey and olive oil (during winter). I go for regular clean-ups too.

What about your hair?

I oil my hair with either organic coconut oil or a mixture of coconut-almond oil at least once in two weeks. Apart from that, I go for hair spas as often as possible.

Do you have a signature fragrance?

I love Romance by Ralph Lauren. It’s been my favourite for ages now.

What’s your solution for pimples?

Toothpaste applied overnight seems to have worked for me.

Any beauty idols?

Too many... but I think Kate Winslet, Cindy Crawford, Indira Varma and Madhuri Dixit to top that list.

What about home remedies for skin and hair?

Good old malai works wonders as a skin softener and moisturiser. Just apply some for 10 minutes and wash off with plain water. Mix it with honey for an added glow. Add fenugreek seeds to hair oil and apply for a healthier mane growth.

Do you include anything in your diet for better skin and hair?

I love walnuts and almonds. Both have great health    benefits.

One beauty product you can’t live without

Lip balm (tinted or plain).

Your off duty hair and make-up style

I mostly keep my hair open, let it fall naturally and to one side. The day I wash my hair is the toughest cause it gets a lot of volume and if I have to step out that day I have to tame it down with a leave in conditioner and let it dry naturally. I am usually make up free when I’m off duty. If I step out in the evening for dinner then it’s just a natural shade of lip and cheek tint and mascara.

What’s the best beauty advice you have received?

This one I gave myself — peaceful luxurious sleep! It’s the best beauty therapy ever. It really works.
