Soft-skills consultant and a modern day Yogi discuss about spirituality, yoga and more...
Sabrina Dutta: I’ve heard a lot about your IMA (Indian Medical Association) event in Mumbai. Could you tell us about it?
Yogi Ashwini: I was invited by IMA, Mumbai, to teach asanas to the students. We wanted it to be a private affair and didn’t even inform the media. But I was surprised to see over 1,000 people coming for the event. We made the students perform different asanas and found that after an hour, the heart rate fell by 15 to 20 counts. Doctors and the public at large, needed to be told what true yoga is all about. What is your belief?
SD: I am a strong believer of Shirdi Sai Baba and I feel my health complications seem to have miraculously vanished too. I consider it to be a miracle and am still awed by the thought of it.
Yogi Ashwini: That’s amazing to hear! There are a lot of people who ask me if health complications can be cured through yoga. However, yoga can complement medical science but does not heal nor cure diseases. Yoga is necessary for our evolution.
SD: That’s true. There are always such misconceptions about yoga and meditation. So, tell us a little about your family life?
Yogi Ashwini: I am married and have two children. A lot of people ask me if it’s difficult to manage spiritual life and family side. There have been times when I’ve hardly got any time to spend with them. However, I seemed to have managed it and definitely, my family is a priority. So, tell me a little about what you do...
SD: I am into event management and soft skills consultant by profession. I’ve been training a lot of corporate companies and hotel firms on communication skills and basic etiquette. So, you’ve spoken a lot about your spiritual side and gave a glimpse of your family life as well. In a nutshell, tell us who Yogi Ashwini is?
Yogi Ashwini: That’s a good question, but tough one to answer (laughs). Well, Yogi is the reflection of Guru. Merging the guru and I as a person is what Yogi Ashwini is all about.
