Where do you draw the line?

This is the limit: Koena Mitra

It was early last week as the city had just begun to experience the cold winds and I woke up to an almost perfect morning. Must say what a sigh of relief from the October heat.

And the unexpected showers were just an addition to my fabulous week ahead.

The weekend was perfectly lazy as I was unwinding from all the running around, sitting in my favourite corner in the house with my laptop, thinking of where technology has brought us as today emotions are expressed through the sounds of a keyboard more than the words itself. Quite an irony! Few minutes into my browsing and there comes a pop-up alarming me of an emergency. Before you get all sorts ofideas, let me tell you it was an email of a close friend of the non-stop lies that her Loverboy kept giving all this while.

Now, it is common that we all lie and for all the reasons we know best, but where exactly do we draw the line?

It’s a known fact that anyone in a relation, perfect or not, lies quite a few times to their respective halves. Being lied to by someone you love is definitely hurtful and frustrating at the same time. You love your partner, so you find yourself forgiving his/her lies the first time, perhaps the second and third time as well, before you realise you are just involved with a liar. And this is exactly when you need to buckle up and take charge.

What you need to ask yourself when this happens is: Is all this really worth it? When you are emotionally involved with someone, it is not always easy to ask and answer these logical questions. You often will make excuses, just to make yourself feel better about staying with someone who does not truly respect you. When your partner lies to you, it is because he does not respect you and is not as committed to the relationship as you would like to believe.

And when you do realise that this illusional world that you’ve created is only temporary, you’ll be free. So, get started.
